How to measure your feet for slippers and clogs

October 19, 2026 · Slip in Style

A size label is a starting point. Before choosing slippers, slides, sandals or clogs, compare your foot length with the guide for the specific pair. Different shapes and size systems can use different measurements.

What you need

Use a sheet of paper, a pencil and a ruler or tape measure. Choose a flat floor beside a wall. If you intend to wear the pair with socks, use the socks you plan to wear when measuring.

Measure heel to longest toe

  1. Place the paper flat against the wall.
  2. Stand on the paper with your heel lightly touching the wall. Stand naturally rather than measuring a foot held in the air.
  3. Mark the end of your longest toe. The longest toe is not always the big toe.
  4. Measure from the wall-side edge of the paper to the mark. Record the result in centimetres or millimetres.
  5. Repeat with the other foot. Keep both measurements and use the longer one when comparing the size chart.

Read the chart for your chosen style

Open Size & Fit on the product page and check what the measurement column describes. A foot-length measurement and an insole measurement are different things. Do not add an allowance automatically or use a conversion table from another product.

For example, Marlow suede buckle clogs use a women’s EU size guide. Check that guide directly rather than assuming the same EU label in another style will have the same fit.

What if you are between sizes?

Ask us before ordering. Tell us the style, the length of both feet, whether you plan to wear socks and whether width is a concern. Foot length alone cannot tell you how every strap, lining or toe shape will feel.

Compare the shape as well as the number

A closed-toe clog, an open-toe slide and a sandal with a heel strap have different shapes. Look at the top, side and on-foot gallery views before making a choice. A size conversion is a guide; it is not a promise that every style will fit identically.
