Slippers, slides, sandals and clogs: how to choose a shape

October 19, 2026 · Slip in Style

Footwear names can overlap. A house slipper may have a slide shape, while a clog can have a lining or an unlined-looking exterior. Start with the toe, back and strap design, then compare the material details and sizing information on the product page.

Clogs: a closed-toe shape

Our clogs collection brings together Marlow, Aurelia and Ember. Marlow has a suede upper, leather lining and footbed, a rubber outsole and a buckle detail. Aurelia combines a buckle with a lined interior, while Ember offers a lined, closed-toe slip-on design.

Compare the opening and lining in the gallery. A lined pair and a leather-lined pair are different choices, so check the details of the exact product rather than assuming every clog has the same construction.

House slippers: compare texture and toe shape

Our house slippers and slides include several different designs. Elowen has a woven-texture exterior and an open back. Lumi features an embroidered bear face on a closed-toe shape. Veloura is an open-toe plush lounge slide, and Haven has a diamond-pattern strap.

Decide whether you prefer an open or closed toe, then compare the top and side views. The appearance of a texture does not establish a material blend or care method; use the published product details or ask us if you need more information.

Slides, sandals and flip-flops: compare the straps

A slide has an open back and an upper across the front of the foot. Soren uses a sculpted EVA slide silhouette. Cove is a sandal with broad straps and a heel strap. Riva uses a toe-post design with a raised platform sole.

Explore the slides, sandals and flip-flops collection to compare these shapes. If a heel strap is important to your choice, look at Cove; if you prefer a toe-post shape, start with Riva.

Three questions before you choose

  1. What toe shape do I want? Compare open-toe and closed-toe options.
  2. What back or strap design do I prefer? Look for an open back, heel strap or toe post.
  3. Which size guide applies? Measure both feet and compare the longer measurement with the guide for that style.

These comparisons describe the shapes in our collection. They are not a guarantee of fit, support or suitability for a particular activity. For a question about a specific pair, ask us before ordering.
